Franklin Merryman

Franklin Merryman, 85, passed away on July 4, 2017.
He was born in Steubenville, Ohio on February 21, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Mildred Jursik Merryman; a sister, Melody Merryman Mullins-Jeantet; and step-sister, Gertrude Hanle. 
He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he was maintenance manager of the Steubenville Post Office. He was a member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church, Pilgrim Lodge 691 F&AM, and the Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Matsue "Judy" Merryman, whom he married June 11, 1955; daughter, Judy (Kent) Dove of Raleigh, NC; son, Franklin C. Merryman of Mingo Jct.; grandsons, Joshua Kent Dove of Culver City, CA, and Daniel Franklin Dove of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter, Jennifer Kawai Dove of Raleigh, NC.; sister, Gay Agnes Brock, of Colchester, England; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved family dog, Mr. Peabody, who was with him when he passed away. 
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving as a corporal in the 4th Signal Battalion. 
Visitation will be Friday from 2-5 p.m., and funeral services will be Saturday at noon at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A military service will follow at Union Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Valley Hospice for their wonderful care.
