Gale Nation, 72, of Wintersville died Thursday April 7, 2016 at his home. He was born May 4, 1943 in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Henry and Wilma Peckens Nation. He is also preceded by one brother Thomas Nation.

Gale left this world a better place, throughout his life people knew him as a man who stood tall. Also a man who demanded perfection and expected nothing less from his family, friends and colleagues. During his time in his beloved Marine Corps he would become a loving father to his first two daughters Holly Nation (Clifton) and Amy Nation. Upon being honorably discharged as a sergeant from the Marine Corps he would yet again become a loving father to Jill Nation (Mullen). Throughout their lives he and his Wife Melody of 53 years would see their daughters grow to be women of honor. Eight years ago Amy preceded Gale in death although heartfelt, as a family we fought through this time and were closer than ever. Gale would be blessed with four grandchildren Aubrey, Bradley, Brandyn, and Aimee. He was able to see all of his grandchildren grow up to be young flourishing adults. To talk to Gale you would think that his grandchildren could do absolutely no wrong. Gale also had the opportunity to be a part of his four great grandchildren’s lives; Noah, Gavyn, Gabriel, and Ava brought Gale so much joy and he had the opportunity to touch their lives in the short period of time he was able to. He will also leave behind his beloved Bulldog Reno, Reno was the runt of the litter who quickly stole Gale’s heart and continues to live a lavish life to this day. Gale would also welcome and be blessed with three amazing individuals Charles Mullen (Jill’s Husband), Ronnie Mitchell (Holly’s (Fiancé’) and Alyssa Frey (Brandyn’s Wife). These three individuals were always there for Gale and his family and he was forever thankful.

Throughout his life Gale was the backbone to our family, always having the time to help anyone he loved through a tough time.  This loss is something we all must bear, however we can move on, never forgetting his life lessons and knowing that he has prepared us all for our life’s journey. We love you Poppy and may you rest peacefully.
