Helen D. Mieczkowski

Helen D. Mieczkowski, 97, of Steubenville died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Valley Hospice. She was born May 23, 1920 in Steubenville. She is the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Matkiewicz Tverbut. Also preceding her in death are her husband Regis Mieczkowski Sr.; son Regis Mieczkowski Jr.; three brothers Joseph, Walter and Alex Tverbut; three sisters Sophia Campbell, Stephanie Burns and Stella Tverbut. 

Helen is a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was also a former member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church; it's CWC and the Holy Rosary Society. 

Helen worked at Bond Bread, Weirton Steel and Pennsylvania Railroad.  

Surviving are one son Fred (Brenda) Mieczkowski of Wintersville; one daughter Barbara (David) Penhorwood of Johnstown, OH; daughter-in-law Nancy Mieczkowski of Wintersville; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. 

Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fr. Michael Gossett, celebrant and Fr. Tim Huffman concelebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be Friday at 4 pm.
