Philip Anthony "Phil" Smarrella

Philip Anthony “Phil” Smarrella, 75, of Murrells Inlet, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 9, 2017 at home with his loving and devoted wife by his side. He was born November 7, 1941 in Steubenville, Ohio, son of the late Joseph and Helen Antonucci Smarrella.

In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his beloved son, Brian Philip Smarrella.

Phil proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve. He was a member of Seaside Community Church. Phil worked for the United States Post Office for 38 years and worked for Skymed International and was also a member.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Mary Smarrella; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Smarrella and her brother, Brenden Molin and wife, Jessica; brother, Joseph “Sluggs” Smarrella and wife, Barbara of Steubenville, OH; three grandchildren, Aaron, Nicholas and Dylan; two nephews, Joseph Jr. and Jeffrey; and one niece, Jennifer.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 am until time of services at 11 am at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Rev. Tim McKenzie will officiate. Burial will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates.
