Richard P. "Zip" Gillette, 80 of Steubenville, died Saturday April 29, 2017 at Valley Hospice.
He was born October 11, 1936 in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth Carmine Gillette.
Zip is also preceded in death by his wife Frances Juliano Gillette on March 29, 2017, and one sister, Pam Gillette.
Zip was retired with 23 years of service from the former Federal Paperboard Company where he was a foreman and also from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Surviving are his daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" (Jim) Gloff of Missouri City, TX ; three sons, Richard "Rick" (Lisa), John (Lisa), and Pat, all of Steubenville, 10 grandchildren, Jimmy, John, Shawn, Ricky, Ryan, Robyn (Matt), Justin, Bobby, Sean, Elizabeth, and Gianna, 4 Great Grandchildren Brody, Kyler, Mason, and Silas.
Zip was for 16 years the little league coach of the Teramana Cardinals, played Steubenville legion baseball, and was an avid Catholic Central High School, Notre Dame and Steelers sports fan
Calling hours are Tuesday 2-6 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Msgr. Gerald Calovini, celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.
