Robert H. Ledyard, Sr., 86, of Steubenville, OH went to meet the Lord on March 18, 2017, at Gables Care Center in Hopedale, OH.

He was born on August 6, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Richard & Mary (Berbenich) Ledyard.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister Ruth English, son-in-law Edward Pestian, and grandson Todd Calloway.

Bob served in the United States Navy; was the proud owner of Town and Country IGA in Cazenovia, NY; worked at Weirton Wholesale in Weirton, WV; Century 21 in Steubenville, OH; a member of the Knights of Columbus,11828 St. John Neumann; an active member of his parish, Holy Family in Steubenville, OH; and volunteered at Samaritan House, Steubenville, OH, and Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center, Wheeling, WV.

Bob’s Catholic faith was central to his life in which he found his true hope and joy in Jesus Christ. He will be remembered for his personable nature, sense of humor, and willingness to serve others. His smile was engaging and he rarely met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Eileen C. (Smythe) Ledyard of Steubenville, OH, his nine children – Bob (Mary) Ledyard of Frederick, MD; Julie (Tim) Flatley of Wheeling, WV; Tony (Sharon) Ledyard of Greensboro, NC; Mike (Betty Jo) Ledyard of Steubenville, OH; Jon (Michelle) of Greensburg, PA; Joanne Pestian of Richmond, OH; Chris (Lisa) of Laguna Niguel, CA; Jennifer Bivona of Charlotte, NC; and Ben (Kate) of Ankeny, IA – his 34 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and brother Fitz (Theckla) Ledyard of Bellevue, WA.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday 9:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Msgr. Gerald Calovini will celebrate. A vigil service will be held at 3:45 pm on Thursday.  

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan House, 424 Washington St., Steubenville, OH 43952.
