Victor F. Zrinyi, Sr., 92, of Follansbee, died Monday July 25, 2016, at home.
He was born September 27, 1923, in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Michael and Ethel Ory Zrinyi.
Victor is also preceded in death by his son, John Zrinyi; brothers, Michael and Alex; and a sister, Helen Kovach.
Victor was a member of Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church, Steubenville. He was retired from National Steel, where he was a general foreman at the coke plant. Victor served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII starting out in artillery then transferred to OSS battles and campaigns in Rome- Arno and then on to the department of Strategic Services. He was also a member of the American Legion Argonne Post 33.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Agresta Zrinyi, whom he married June 1, 1946, two sons, Victor F. (Beverly) Zrinyi, Jr. and Eugene Zrinyi both of Wintersville; two brothers, Theodore Zrinyi of Daytona Beach and George (Theresa) Zrinyi of Steubenville; seven grandchildren, Victor III, Christopher, Anthony, Eugene Jr., Misty, Ashley, and Keith; eight great- grandchildren, Ryan, Shane, Jacalynn, Domanic, Jordan, Hannah, Nicole, and Allison.
Calling hours will be Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 200 Rosemont Avenue, Steubenville, from 10 a.m. until the time of a Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11 a.m. Father Ryan Gray will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
