Vincenza Carfora Savinell

Vincenza (Carfora) Savinell, 91, went to be with the Lord on August 19, 2017 surrounded by her family. Vincenza was born July 2, 1926 in Santa Maria-a-Vico, Italy. She immigrated to the United States in 1952 to be with her husband and raise their beautiful family. She was a resident of Steubenville, Ohio and was a faithful and devoted member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was a member of former St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. Vincenza loved God, church, and her country.

She enjoyed cooking and making memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to dance at weddings and threw coins and candies in traditional Italian fashion.

Preceding Vincenza in death are her husband William Savinell, Sr. and son Joseph (Caroline) Savinell, as well as her brothers Domenico Carfora, Biaggio Carfora, Francesco Carfora, and sisters, Catarina Difrancesca and Giovanna Carfora

Surviving are her children Merica (Larry) Petrella, Carolyn (Craig) McFarland, Vincetta (Nick) Tsouris, Williamina (Bob) Hall, Joann (Michael) Gampolo, and William Savinell Jr. as well as her sisters Antonietta (Micele) Crisci, Filomena (Vincenzo) DiMarzo, and Assunta (Vincenzo) Sposito. She also was blessed with thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may gather at Mosti Funeral Home at 4435 Sunset Blvd. on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8. A Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 am Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Ryan Grey, celebrant. Burial will follow at  Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service at 7:45 pm Wednesday.
