It is with deepest sadness that we announce the death of Tina (Christina) Habowski. Tina was born May 23, 1963 in Steubenville, Ohio to the late Joseph “Red” and Yvonne (Yoder) Habowski. She died peacefully at Ohio Valley Hospice on her own terms, in her own way, on March 30. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her sister Suzette Gendjar, brother in law, Ken Gendjar, nephew “My” Garrett, and niece Kayla all of Farmington Hills, Michigan. She is also survived by Aunt Patricia Yoder, and several loving cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Blanchard “Pep” and Loretta Yoder and Joe and Mary Habowski, Aunt and Uncles Jean and Larry Carrocci, Don and June Starliper, Robert and Charlette Starliper, James Yoder, and cousins taken too soon Pam Starliper and Debbie (Starliper) Firm.
Tina was a proud graduate of Steubenville Big Red Class of ’81 and remained an avid Big Red Sports Fan. She also graduated from Jefferson Technical College with an Associate’s degree in accounting. Tina worked at Canella’s Market, Shop and Save, and at Trinity West in supplies. She then completed course work to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Trinity West until illness lead her to an early retirement.
Tina loved to garden and was known for her meticulous yard, beautiful flower beds, and vegetable gardens. As the weather got colder, she turned to her talented baking skills inherited from a long line of Yoder cooks and made abundant Christmas cookie trays for “everyone that was nice to her throughout the year.” In the winter months, she practiced her crafting skills, and recently learned to sew and quilt. She loved spending time with her family and friends but most of all with Garrett and Kayla making trips to Michigan for hockey, baseball, dance, and celebrations whenever she was able.
Visitation will be held Friday from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville. Additional visitation will take place Saturday at the funeral home from 11 am until 11:30 am, Funeral Liturgy with Mass will follow at 12 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will take place at a later date.
Donations may be made in Tina’s name to the Friendship Room or the Cancer Dietary Initiative.
