Angelo C. Salomone, 99, of Steubenville died Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Valley Hospice. He was born September 17, 1919 in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Dominick and Grace Locascio Salomone. Also preceding him in death are his wife Julia Coluccio Salomone; one sister Mary Hurn; three brothers Rocco, Anthony and Salvatore Salomone.
Angelo was retired from Timet where he was a welder for many years. He was also a founding member of the Timet Retirees Club. Angelo was a member of the American Legion Post 86, the Knights of Columbus Council 472 and was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church Men’s Club and currently a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Angelo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was one of the soldiers that landed on Normandy during D-Day.
Surviving are one daughter Angela Salomone of Steubenville and two sons Robert (Barbara) Salomone of Westerville and Dominic (Elizabeth) Salomone of Henderson, NV; five grandchildren Robert (Kelly) Salomone, Lydia (Dr. Scott) Stephens, Julie (Rob) Brotz, Joseph Salomone, Krista Salomone and one great grandchildren Chase Stephens.
Calling hours will be Friday from 3-7 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Msgr. Gerald Calovini will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be Friday at 4:30 pm.
