Anthony "Tony" Carissimi, 84, of Steubenville died Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born January 16, 1934 in Follansbee. He is the son of the late Jack Sr. and Anna Headmond Carissimi. He is also preceded by his wife Flora Travaglino Carissimi and brother Jack Carissimi Jr.
Tony taught at Bellaire High School for many years, he then retired from Toronto High School. He was a member of the Ohio Education Association and the NEA. He was a member of the former Holy Name Cathedral Choir and enjoyed singing in the Piasano Band. He was a former member and secretary of the Italian American Culture Club. Tony was also an avid Ohio State fan.
Surviving are two brothers Joseph Carissimi of Wellsburg and Thomas Carissimi of Weirton; brother in law Sam (Erminia) Travaglino; nephews Ben (Linda) Provenzano, James Provenzano, Patricia Provenzano, Ferruccio (Kris) Provenzano, Alfred (Barbara) Provenzano, Albert (Gail) Provenzano, Sam (Christine) Travaglino, Robert (Arlene) Travaglino; nieces Rhonda (David) Parda, Saundra Travaglino and many great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Tom Nau will celebrate. Entombment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be held Friday at 7:45 pm.
