Obituary

Franklin L. Hood, 71, of Amsterdam passed away peacefully Dec. 28, 2019, in Columbus, OH. He was born Aug. 31, 1948, in Toronto, OH.

After graduating from Toronto High School, he worked for Weirton Steel for 37 years in different areas of the mill until he retired. During that time, he was enlisted into the U.S. Army 1968-71, where he honorably served his country in the Vietnam War and received various awards and medals.

He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them and his friends. He liked to joke, have fun, and make people laugh and smile. Frank enjoyed singing, dancing and listening to music, mainly 50’s and 60’s oldies. He was a car enthusiast who loved restoring muscle cars, especially his Mustangs. He enjoyed participating in car shows, swap meets and raced stock cars when he was in his 20’s. Frank could be seen driving his convertible with the top down, most likely to get some ice cream. His other interests were riding his motorcycle, boating and fishing with his children, and hunting with his son, family and friends. Frank loved nature, animals and walking around his property enjoying its beauty and serenity. One of his favorite memories was hunting in Montana with some of his closest friends. He was a Steelers and Buckeyes fan with the fondest experience of attending an Ohio State football game with his daughter.

Frank is survived by his children Frank Hood and Tammy (Josh) Jenkins, along with his grandson Aiden Hood, siblings Jackie Boop and Elmer Hood, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Elsie (Barber) Rock and Jackson Hood, sisters Mae Johnson and Grace (Harold) Galloway. A special thank you to all the staff at Forest Hills Center in Columbus for taking such good care of our dad and loving him as your own.
