Gloria DiMeo Obituary

Gloria M. DiMeo, 83, of Mingo Jct. passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019. She was born Sept 12, 1935 in Steubenville. She is the daughter of the late Neva Maria Tevere born in Mongrassano Cosenza Calabria Italy and Ruggiero Manfresca born in San Marco Argentano, Cosenza, Calabria Italy. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Ramo Perrone and Capt. Joe Perrone; sisters Michelina “Mickie” Perrone Sellaroli and Annie Perrone Gombar.

Gloria was one of eight children and loved spending time with her brothers and sisters. She was the organizer of the family reunions and never missed an opportunity to celebrate a special occasion that she supplied with homemade Italian cookies. Gloria was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mingo Jct. She was also a member of the Italian American Cultural Club, Fun Seekers, Bishops Charity Ball Volunteer and Catholic Womens Club, and was retired from Valley One Credit Union after 27 years of service.

Surviving are her husband Severino “Sam” DiMeo, whom she married January 26,1957, one son Samuel J. (Renee) DiMeo of Akron and their children; Sammy DiMeo and Elisa Marie DiMeo. Two daughters Teresa DiMeo (Candace Dark) and Annmarie “Peachie” (Mollie Risen) DiMeo both of Columbus; two brothers Charles J. (Mary) Manfresca and Roger (Jeannie) Manfresca both of Steubenville; one sister Madeline (Loretto “88”) Iafrate of Follansbee. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was our teacher, our compass and our guide throughout life. She taught us how to live life passionately, as she did herself, and love each other unconditionally, as she loved us. She was an advocate for education and taught us to always believe in ourselves and in God. She has left the world a better place and left her mark of love on many of us.
