Helen M. Afek

Helen M. Afek, 82, of Steubenville and residing at the Carriage Inn, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Trinity West. 
She was born June 20, 1936, in Steubenville.  She was a daughter of the late Leon and Veronica Popko Afek.  
Helen was also preceded in death by nephew, Robert Afek,  her brothers,  Leon, Henry, Joe, Walter "Wahoo", Paul, Mike, Frank, and Stanely Akek, and one sister, Jennie Afek.
Helen was retired from the former St. John Medical Center where she was a lab technician.  She loved to travel, and belonged to several prayer groups.  
Surviving are five nephews; Paul, John, Jim, Steven,  and Matthew (Lisa) Afek; six nieces, Elaine (Alan) Thompson, Linda (Doug) Ledbetter, Kristen (Jim) Stewart, Renee Afek, Lisa (James) Garber, and Kerri Perry; four cousins, Theresa Petroski, Stella Westlake, Margie Swartzmiller,  and John Pawelczyk.
Calling hours are Saturday 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m at the Mosti Funeral Home Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, Ohio.  Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
