Henry Portocarrero

Henry Portocarrero, 86, of Steubenville died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Valley Hospice surrounded by his loving family and the staff of Valley Hospice. He was born July 29, 1931, in Steubenville. He was the son of the late Geronimo and Piedad DeLgadido Portocarrero. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Judith Rosati Portocarrero; son, Arnold Portocarrero; infant daughter, Cynthia; two sisters, Vida Krystynak and Amelia Hula; and two brothers, Rubin Portocarrero and Joseph Ortiz.

Henry was retired from Weirton Steel where he was the assistant yardmaster in the transportation department with 35 years of service. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Jefferson County Sportsman Assoc., Weirton Steel 25-Year Club, Tri-State Marine Corps Club Weirton, VFW Post 2716 (Life Member) Weirton, American Legion Argonne Post 33 Steubenville, and the Franciscan Alumni Assoc.

Surviving are one daughter, Lisa (Randy) Stacy of Bloomingdale; three sisters, Lana Scott, Frances Hughes and Mary Pasic all of Steubenville; two grandchildren, Shanna (Doug) Knight and Jeremy (Stephanie) Stacy; six great-grandchildren, Madeline, Easton, Landon, Gavin, Marley and Peyton; and his companion, Janet Marrow. Henry proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Msgr. Gerald Calovini will celebrate. A vigil will be Monday at 5:45 p.m. Burial will be at Mt.
