James A. Mottice, 92, of Wintersville died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at his home. He was born March 25, 1926 in Steubenville. He is the son of the late James and Mary Amos Mottice. Also preceding him in death are brother Robert Mottice and sister Ruth McGoldrick.
James was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel where he was a Cost Accountant. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. James was also a former Boy Scout and Scout Master for many years.
James proudly served his country in the “66th Infantry Division” of the US Army during WWII. He attended many reunions of that organization.
Surviving are his wife Barbara Cook Mottice, whom he married June 5, 1948; one son Robert (Nora) Mottice of Chattanooga, TN; two daughters Susan (Duane) Soskey of Ellicott City, MD and Barbara (Husband Brian Fendly) Mottice of Anacortes, WA; one brother in law James Cook; one sister in law Ann Mazarak; two grandchildren Brian and Kevin Soskey; two great grandchildren Tenley and Austin Soskey.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2:30 pm until time of services at 4:30 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Rev. Erik Breddin will officiate. Burial will be Thursday at 10 am at Union Cemetery.
