Joseph M. Orsini, 96, of Wintersville died Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Country Club Manor. He was born July 2, 1921 in Steubenville.
He is the son of the late Joseph and Mary DeBenedetto Orsini, Joseph is also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Philippart Orsini and a brother, Bernard Orsini.
Joseph was a member of member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, was retired from Titanium Metals Corporation of America, Toronto, and was an U.S. Army veteran of WWII.
Surviving are two sisters, Frances Sohovich and Nancy (Donald) Smith both of Wintersville, two nieces, Missy (Alan) Valkosky, whom he called his daughter and Patty (Jim) Medley both of Wintersville, and a sister in law, Ida Mae Orsini of Tappan Lake.
Nephews, Sean Beresford, Mike, Anthony, and John Orsini, and Kevin, Brian, and Shawn Medley.
Joe was a fisherman, taxidermist, and a wood carver. His carvings of birds looked real enough to fly. He taught people to carve and gave freely of his time.
Everyone who knew him called him "Uncle Joe".
Calling hours are Thursday 9 a.m. to noon at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Msgr. Kurt Kemo, celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
