Sophie Indovina

Sophie Indovina, 95 of Steubenville, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2019 under the care of the Gables of Hopedale and Valley Hospice.

Born in Slovan, PA., June 14, 1924, daughter of the late Louis and Manda Povich. Sophie was preceded in death by her brother Eli, sister Mary and Dinah.

She graduated from Union High School, Burgettstown, PA and Jefferson Technical College. Sophie worked for Weirton Steel as a crane operator during World War II. She was employed by Rogers Jewelry for ten years, and Greenberg Jewelers. She was a founding member of Holy Family Church and sang in the choir for many years. Sophie loved to play golf, travel and be surrounded by family.

Sophie is survived by her husband Guy, of 72 years. Her children: Carol (James) Looman; Mark Indovina; Cynthia (David) Gasser; Janine (George) Petrella; Michael (Katerina) Indovina; Thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and extended family.

A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 14, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Church, 2608 Hollywood Blvd., Steubenville, OH 43952, with Msgr. Gerald Calovini celebrating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville.
