Anthony Constantine Obituary

Anthony Joseph Constantine, 74, passed away at home on May 18, 2025 surrounded by his family.

He was born on October 12, 1950, in Steubenville, son of the late Anthony and Margaret (Fletcher) Constantine. In addition to his parents, Anthony is preceded in death by his infant nephew, Christopher Schrecker; infant niece, Nicole Crocker; and brother-in-law, Lou Schrecker.

He was a 1968 graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School, a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, and Toronto Knights of Columbus Council 2187. He began working at the Weirton Steel Corporation in 1969.  He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War and served from 1970-1971 in F Troop 17th Cavalry as a M551 Sheridan Light Tank operator. Upon returning, he resumed his career at Weirton Steel as a Quality Observer, became a member of the 25 Year Club, and retired after 32 years of service.  He was then employed at Berlin Packaging in Crafton, PA in the Dangerous Goods hazardous-material packaging division before entering full retirement. During his daughters’ high school years, he attained a Class B Commercial Ohio Driver’s License and volunteered as a bus driver for the Catholic Central High School Marching Band for seven years. He was a Crusader through and through and for 35 years could be found watching the games at Harding stadium from the same season ticket seats.  Throughout his life and into retirement, he was an avid collector of hockey cards, Coca-Cola memorabilia, Hallmark ornaments, and Starting Line-Up sports action figures. He also loved visiting with his many cousins, childhood friends, work buddies, and especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his daughter, Stacey (Brent) Wenthur of North Carolina; daughter, Kristie Constantine of Ohio; son, Joseph (Julie) Constantine of Ohio; sisters, Judy Schrecker of Pennsylvania, Linda (Kyle) Crocker of Virginia; nieces, Jennifer Crocker (Adam Bondurant) and Sydney Crocker, both of Virginia; great-niece, Maci Bondurant; and grandchildren, Anthony Wenthur, Meredith Wenthur, Addison Jolley, and Gunner Constantine.
