Cecil E. Bailey

Cecil E. Bailey, 88, of Steubenville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020 with his family by his side. He is the son of the late Lewis and Anna Mae Bailey. He was preceded in death by his siblings Paul, Owen, Allen, Julius, Charles, Archie, Arthur, and Nelly.  Son, John J. Utsinger (USMC) of Steubenville and daughter, Kathy Temple (Bailey) of Wellsburg, WV.

“Beetle”, as he was affectionally known to so many, is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara Mae Bailey, whom he married April 5th, 1969. He is also survived by his children Mary Powell (Utsinger) and her husband Michael of Utah, Kathy’s husband David Temple of Wellsburg, WV, Richard Bailey and his wife Nikki of New Cumberland, WV, Glinda Platt of Weirton, WV, John’s wife Lori Utsinger of Iowa, Lisa Bailey – Cline of Steubenville, Sharon Miller (Bailey) and her husband Robert of Sacramento, CA, Charles Bailey and his wife Tiffany of Carnegie, PA and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cecil retired from National Steel Corporation, where he bundled steel coils by trade. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter of small game, fisherman and an amateur CB radio operator. He was also a member of The Beagle Club and raised beagle puppies. Daisy was the heart of them all. Later in life, Cecil enjoyed watching westerns, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. “John Wayne” was among his favorites.

Celebrating his birthday was something he looked forward to every year. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching The Pittsburgh Pirates and The Pittsburgh Steelers.  He enjoyed the warmer months sitting outside on the porch with his wife, watching the sun set over the South End of Steubenville. Cecil was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, great - grandfather and uncle. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Memorial visitation will be held Friday from 10 am until time of services at Noon at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
