Cecilia McCarry

Cecilia Bridget Margaret Mary McCarry, 96, passed away on December 26, 2020, at Trinity West Medical Center in Steubenville, Ohio. Born in Chicago, Cecilia worked as an executive secretary in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco, and Berkeley before retiring to Steubenville.

Cecilia enjoyed a good scotch, ballroom dancing, Raider and Notre Dame football, tennis, and golf, but above all, she loved Jesus Christ and had a special devotion to his Blessed Mother Mary. A lifelong Catholic, she lived out her faith as a member of Triumph of the Cross Parish (Holy Rosary) and the Community of God’s Love. As long as she was able, Cecilia prayed many Rosaries each day for her friends and acquaintances, and for our nation, always with full confidence and trust in God’s providential care.

Preceded in death by her parents Henry and Mary McCarron McCarry, her brother, and two sisters, Cecilia is survived by her sister, Sister Barbara McCarry, OSB.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 31, from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated immediately following the visitation at Holy Rosary Church. Father Thomas Nau will celebrate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
