Charles Anthony Scaffidi, 95, of Mingo Jct., passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Trinity Medical Center West. He had been residing at Country Club Manor for the past 4 years. He was born in Mingo Jct., on November 21, 1926, the son of the late Rosario G. and Rosaria I. Scaffidi. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Paul J. Scaffidi, his sister Santa J. Petrella, and his nephew Jesse Petrella.
Surviving family members include nieces and nephews Sanna (Paul) Carapellotti, Rena Petrella, Patsy J. Petrella, Patrick J. Petrella Jr, Charles A. (Debbie) Petrella, Cheryl A. Medina, Ross P. (Norma) Scaffidi, Janice (Jesse) Petrella. He has 13 great nieces and nephews including Anna (Jake), Julian, Mandie (Larry), Joey (Samantha), Michael, Regina, Annette, Teresa, Paul, Patricia, Michael, Allan (Brandy), Stephen. There are 26 great great nieces and nephews.. Other loved ones include Richard Petrella, Ruth Petrella, Michele Felton.
Charlie served in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1956, and was stationed at Koje-do during the Korean War. He retired in 1988 after 14 years of employment in the Service Department of the City of Mingo Jct. He was a lifelong parishioner at St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Charlie was fearless and loved adventure. He traveled the country on the bus and covered miles by foot. He was fascinated by the history and development of language and numbers. His views on life were unique, profound, and always entertaining.
Visitation will be held Friday from 3-6 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Visitation will also be held Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church from 9 am until time of Mass at 10 am. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
