Darlene Johnson Obituary

Darlene Johnson, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024 with her daughter by her side.

She is survived by her daughter Charlene Means of Weirton, her only grandson Cris (Elizabeth) Means of Leesburg, VA and her great grandchildren Callie and Connor.

Darlene was born October 29, 1928 in New Cumberland, WV. She graduated from New Cumberland High School in 1947.

She worked at Downtown Bakery and Hourning’s Bakery in Steubenville. For 25 years she worked as Assistant Director and Director of Housekeeping at Ohio Valley Hospital until her retirement in 1994.

Dar was a member of Cove Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon and Elder.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Mae Booth, her husband of 40 years Charles Johnson, former son in law Jeff Means, uncle Jesse Cullen, sisters Geneva Fish and Marie Reed, brothers William and Charles Booth.

Dar loved going to yard sales, crocheting, playing the lottery and scratch offs. She enjoyed listening to Big Red Football games, Pittsburgh Penguin Hockey, WVU football and Kansas City Chiefs football. And she was never without her can of Pepsi.

 Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 am until time of services at 12 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Burial will follow in Fort Steuben Burial Estates. Pastor Herb Fletcher will officiate.
