Donald Headmond

Donald "Pugie" Headmond, 84, of Steubenville, passed away Thursday November 17, 2022 at Trinity West. He was born in Steubenville on January 14, 1938, the son of the late Mary Elizabeth Ross-Headmond and John Headmond. He was raised by his aunt the late Margaret Ross after the death of his mother when he was 6 months old. He was also preceded in death by his grandson Charles "Chuckie" Headmond.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jaunietta and his 5 daughters; Debbie (Jerry) Dennison, Dee Dee Headmond, Diana (John) Brandt, Dorina (Curt) Zwar and Dana (Douglas) Lee; six grandchildren Nicole (Jeremy) Bell, Mackenzie, Kaelene, Megan, Paige and Devyn; three great grandchildren Jayden, Hudson and Aries; his close family/friends Jack Headmond and Tom Antinone. 

Donald retired from the City of Steubenville after over 30 years and then worked for Jefferson Metropolitan Housing for several years before officially retiring.  

He was a long time member of Triumph of the Cross. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 472.  

Donald spent most of his life doing what he loved, coaching baseball including little league, Babe Ruth, girls little league softball and was an assistant coach for Franciscan University of Steubenville along side his lifelong friend, the late Vince Lamatrice.  

Donald was passionate about Notre Dame football, all Italian foods, his oldies music and a nice cold beer.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3-6 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Fr. James Dunfee will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service held Tuesday at 3 pm.
