Donald E. Cologie Keefer, affectionately known as Donnie, passed away on July 26, 2023, in Wintersville, Ohio. Born on January 27, 1959, in Cadiz, Ohio, Donnie was a beloved son, brother, father, and friend. He was 64.
Preceding him in death were his parents Maryann Wetzel and Donald E Cologie and his loving stepfather, Carl F Keefer. His childhood was greatly influenced by his grandparents, Clyde and Opal Wetzel, with whom he shared a special bond. His grandmother Opal (mum mum) was instrumental in his upbringing, having nurtured him with love and wisdom. Donnie was the cherished brother to his siblings, Randy, Tammy, John, Stephanie, Moge, Dawn Marie, Tiffany, Sherry and Bob who loved him dearly and will remember him fondly.Donnie was a proud father to his four children, Marcella Lucille, Nichole, Desarah, and Kodiak. His love for them was evident.
Donnie worked as a construction equipment operator, and truck driver showcased his hardworking nature and dedication. He took great pride in his work. Donnie had a deep passion for sports, particularly football and boxing. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan,his loyalty to the team never wavered. However, it was boxing that truly captured his heart. Donnie was a formidable fighter, having won numerous titles throughout his career, including being one of the first Tuff Man champions. His love for the sport was infectious, inspiring those around him to appreciate the discipline and dedication required in boxing.One of the defining aspects of Donnie's life was the bond he shared with his grandmother Opal. Together, they indulged in various hobbies, creating memories that Donnie cherished throughout his life. Their relationship was a testament to the love and
respect they had for each other, and the influence of his grandmother Opal was evident in the man Donnie became.Donnie's life was characterized by his love for his family, his passion for sports. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. As we remember Donnie, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, strength, and dedication. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. May his soul rest in peace.
In honor of Donnie there will be a Celebration of Life held at the American Legion in Adena, Ohio on August 26th starting at 2:00.
