Dr. Mary DeAngelis died Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Columbus Alzheimer Care Center. She was born in New Boston, Ohio to the late Philip and Filomena Tosi DeAngelis. She was preceeded in death by two brothers, Herman DeAngelis and Serafine DeAngelis, two sisters, Cecilia DeAngelis and Pauline Prokorym.
Mary received her bachelorás degree from St. Marys of the Springs in Columbus, Ohio, Masters from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa and Doctorate degree from The Ohio State University. Mary was also known as Sr. Madeleva, OP and taught at Holy Name Cathedral and St. Anthony in Steubenville. She also taught in Pennsylvania and New York. She was a professor at Youngstown State and also had a private counseling practice in Boardman, OH. She retired from Franciscan University in Steubenville, where she was Chairman of the Christian Counseling Department.
She is survived by nephew, Philip Prokorym of Steubenville, nieces, Patty Prokorym of Columbus, Kathy (Rob) Hadfield of Woodstock, Ga, Jeannie (Jim) Tindor of Las Vegas, and Paula (David) Beickman of Hilliard, five great-nieces, Jessica Tindor, Julie Hadfield, Carin Hadfield, Lucia Beickman and Lillian Beickman, one great nephew, Jimmy Tindor, great-great niece, Amelia Tindor and great-great nephew, Chevy Fraley.
Calling hours are Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church from 12:00pm until mass at 1:00pm, Msgr. Gerald Calovini, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
