Eleanor M. Lafferty (née Narewski) died peacefully in her home on August 6, 2020 in Follansbee, WV at the age of 86.
Eleanor was born on November 9, 1933, in Steubenville, OH to Stanley and Eva (Sędzik) Narewski. She graduated from Catholic Central High School and subsequently worked at the Ohio State Employment Office as well as the Steubenville Catholic Register, both in Steubenville, OH. Eleanor was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt and a wonderful friend and neighbor to many.
Eleanor is survived by her sister, Frances Hawkins (Steubenville), her children Maureen Lafferty (Deborah Drummond) of South Bend, IN, Lynne Lafferty Baird (Robert) of Steubenville, Larry Lafferty (Margaret Sheskey) of Athens, OH, and Brennan Lafferty (Carrie) of Ann Arbor, MI, her grandchildren Ellen Baird, Emily Baird, Ian Baird, Daniel Baird, Grace Lafferty, Andrew Lafferty, Patrick Lafferty, and Zeke Lafferty, as well as her niece Eleanore Crowe (James) of Kula, HI and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Sr. Mary Cantius of Coraopolis, PA, Edmund Narewski (Marie) of Steubenville, Hattie Narewski Miklasz (John) of Hamburg, NY, Anthony Narewski (Lillian) of Plymouth, MA, Casimir Narewski of Cambridge, OH, infant brother Alexander and infant sister Anna, and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Baird.
Mosti Funeral Home, 4355 Sunset Boulevard, Steubenville, is handling arrangements with interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
