Enice was a dedicated special education teacher for 37 years. A profession she loved, enjoyed and respected. During her time as an educator she held teaching positions at the School of Bright Promise and Indian Creek Local School District. She had a heart for the underdog and many times hired past students for jobs at her rental properties. A former principal often joked “Enice could teach a dog to read.” Upon her retirement, she was fulfilled knowing several of her students went on to succeed in life. During her teaching career she won numerous awards. Enice was a true believer in the need for Economic Education. She won the State of Ohio Award for teaching students Economics, now known as Financial Literacy in the 1986.
Enice was a devout Catholic and a proud member of St. Peter’s Church. She also was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club. She was an active volunteer at Franciscan University, Old Fort Steuben and other organizations, too many to list. Enice received the Old Fort Steuben Volunteer of the year award. She was proud to receive the Cherry Blossom Plaque for faithful service to the Mingo community students. She was an avid card player who looked forward to playing cards with her card club ladies. Enice loved to host and was an amazing cook and baker. Everyone was welcome at her table. Her famous raviolis will be missed by all.
Enice was a loving mother, doting grandmother and the sweetest great grandmother. Enice was extremely generous with her family. Every year she planned a family vacation in order to create meaningful memories and bonds that would last a lifetime.
