Fred W. Walsh passed away at Valley Hospice on Saturday, March 28, 2020, after a lengthy illness. Fred was born in Cleveland, OH to the late Frederick J. and Sallie Bielicki Walsh.
Fred was brought up in Mingo Jct. and was a proud graduate of Mingo High School and the Pittsburgh Barber Academy. Fred was an avid follower of high school football and fan of Steubenville Big Red football. Fred loved to attend the practice sessions as well as the games. Fred also loved cooking, decorating, entertaining and hair. Fred was the owner of many hair salons over the years starting with Fred Walsh Barber Shop and the Gaslite and ending with Fred Walsh Hair Studio. Fred made many long lasting friendships through the hair industry and was blessed to have been trained by Paul Mitchell in New York City.
Fred is survived by Rene, his wife of 40 years, a son Michael of New Jersey, many wonderful cousins and the loves of his life – Reno Dominic, Joelle Rene’ and Nina Angelina Tarquinio.
Fred and his family would like to thank Valley Hospice and their wonderful staff as well as Dr. Figel and Dr. Colflesh. We would also like to thank the cardiology department at the Cleveland Clinic for the outstanding medical attention he received. Most especially Fred would like to thank his nurse coordinator Kimberly Bischell for her constant attention and care during the last 3 years. She made everything easier and we are grateful to have had her in Fred’s life.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated today at Holy Family Catholic Church and burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
