Geno Carinci Obituary

Geno J. Carinci, 92, of Wintersville, passed away peacefully at the Robin Johnson House, Gaston Hospice, Dallas, North Carolina surrounded by his loving family on August 7th, 2024. Born on August 27th, 1931 in Steubenville, he was one of five children born to August and Mary (Porrecca) Carinci.

Geno was a 1949 graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central. Geno married Sara Jane Hern and they raised three children and welcomed four grandchildren and eleven great - grandchildren. In addition to his wonderful and supportive parents, Geno was preceded in death by his loving wife Sara Jane and their only son, Eugene J. Additionally, Geno was preceded in death by his two bothers Dario and Tito and Eda their only sister.  

Memory will be forever cherished by his brother Anthony Carinci and loving daughters, Nancy (Jeffrey) Robinson, Georgianne (James) Feimster, grandchildren Garrett (Danielle) Campbell, Anthony (Tina) Mark, Nicole (Andrew) Signa and Leslie Canterbury. Eleven great-grandchildren and also nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Geno was a gentleman who was very caring and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel provided Geno with an opportunity to work for them and he never disappointed the company, achieving the position of Roller in the 80 inch mill. He was extremely proud of his work ethic and his extensive background in the steel industry which provided him with the opportunity to support his family who he loved very much. A veteran of the United States Navy, Geno demonstrated dedication and bravery as a Gunners Mate in the Korean War. He was extremely proud of his Italian Heritage and his faith was a cornerstone of his life. For twenty- three years Geno was extremely committed to his beloved Blessed Sacrament Church in Wintersville, serving as a volunteer and performing as many tasks as necessary to support and grow his beloved church.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 16th from 1-5 pm at Mosti Funeral Home, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church 10:00 am on Saturday, August 17th Fr. Michael Gossett will preside. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.
