George P. Parikakis

George P. Parikakis, 77, of Follansbee, West Virginia, died Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Trinity West Hospital. He was born August 3, 1947, on the historic Greek Island of Chios. He is the son of the late Pete and Argyro Magou Parikakis. He is also preceded in death by his sister Aggeliki “Kiki” Anastasakis; sister-in-law Helen Satiropoulis; brothers-in-law John Anastasakis, Constantine “Gus” Evangelinos, Charles "Chuck" Rangos and William McElhaney.

George was employed at Weirton Steel, Ohio Edison, and Timet. He was a devoted member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where he served on the Parish Council. He was also a member of the AHEPA.

George was an active member of the Steubenville, Weirton, Ohio Valley Chios Society, Homer Chapter #4, and served as a former president. He also served as Governor of Ohio and West Virginia of the Chios Societies of America and Canada.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years Stella Evangelinos Parikakis, whom he married August 17, 1974; son Peter Parikakis of Wintersville, one granddaughter, Jona Grace Parikakis; sisters-in-law Angelica Evangelinos of Northville, Michigan; Erma Rangos of Follansbee, West Virginia; Mary McElhaney of Imperial, Pennsylvania; and Toula Evangelinos of Barnesville, Ohio.  He is also survived by a number of godchildren, nieces and nephews, including Sophia Anastasakis Loizou, and Kostas Anastasakis of Chios, Greece.

Calling hours will be held Monday, October 21, from 3-7 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, where the traditional Trisagion Service will be chanted at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 300 South Fourth Street, Steubenville. Fr. Yanni Verginis and Fr. Nick Halkias will be officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church or to Chios Societies Charitable Educational Funds.
