Gerald Anderson, 88, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026 peacefully. He was born May 21, 1937 in Steubenville. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose steady presence and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him. Gerald is the son of the late Ernest and Mildred Oswald Anderson. Also preceding him in death are his first wife Mary Francis Evans Anderson; brothers Ernest & Ronald Anderson; sister Zoe Tomeucci and granddaughter Brittany Anderson
Gerald proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran. Following his military service, he worked for the United States Postal Service for 40 years, where he was known for his reliability, dedication, and strong work ethic. Outside of work, Gerald was a lifelong Boston Red Sox, Big Red and Ohio State fan, cheering on his teams with unwavering loyalty. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 33.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Anderson; his son, Brian (Liz) Anderson; and his step-daughter Nicole (Mike) Taylor, stepgrandchildren, William and Mikah Taylor, Josh and Adam Sterling, and Tyle and Dominic DiMichele and all of whom brought joy and pride into his life.
Gerald will be remembered for his kindness, his loyalty to family, and the love he shared so generously. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
