Gerald W. John

On July 26,2022 Gerald “Jerry” W. John; loving husband, father of 2 and grandpa of 2; passed away at 75. Jerry was born on February 16, 1947 to Harold (Pete) and Ruth John in Salem, OH His childhood was at his parents home in Winona, OH Jerry received his Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University in 1970 and his graduate degree from the University of Maryland in 1973 with a major in Clinical Pharmacy. He then became director of Pharmacy at Ohio Valley Hospital Steubenville. He married Jean Ann Orris-Perna on November 5, 1977. They had 2 children: Patrick W and Jeanette. Jerry loved his profession of Pharmacy and his desire to help his patients/clients was evident through his entire career. He never forgot the name of a drug or its actions. And he loved teaching others about drug safety. He was very active at the Winterville United Methodist Church where he was a member. He loved coffee, and the beach especially at the Condo in South Carolina and Anna Maria Island Jerry enjoyed listening to Elvis and Willie Nelson ; earned his Black belt in Karate and was an avid collector of quotes. He was also a member of the Jefferson County Republican Party and he loved his country! He will be remembered for his love of his family, his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit to all. He will be greatly missed by family and his many friends through the years. Jerry was preceded in death by his father and mother; and his beloved wife Jean. In 2019. He is survived by his children; Patrick (Tiffiny) of Las Vegas, NV, and Jeanette (Chad) Henderson of Parma, OH and two grandchildren Kylie and Dominic Henderson and his “ favorite” sister Joyce (Rick) Moore of Akron, OH. And a loyal group of friends. Calling hours are Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville, from 10 am until the time of services at noon, Pastor Clint Quillen will officiate and burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will be held for family and friends after the graveside services at Manfred’s -located at 4152 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville.
