Gloria Ciancetta Tluchowski, a spirited woman of deep faith, passed away peacefully at Trinity West on February 23, 2025. Born on March 8, 1929, in Steubenville, she was the cherished daughter of the late Carlo and Francesca DeLeonardis Ciancetta.
Gloria was the devoted wife of the late Frank G. Tluchowski Sr., with whom she celebrated 70 beautiful years of marriage - a partnership filled with love, resilience, and unwavering support. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to nurturing her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Frank and Madonna Tluchowski, Carol Garrison, Richard and Luann Tluchowski, Marian and Jim Zalenka, Michael and Michele Tluchowski, and former daughter-in-law Tammy (Ron) Mehalik.
She is also lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren, Beth (Christopher) Mascio, Carrie (John) Crkvenac, Kristen (Adam) Foslid, Kelly (Shawn) McNally, Drew (Chelsea Heinz) Garrison, LeeAnn (Matt Piccinin) Tluchowski, Michelle (James) Vrba, Mallory Tluchowski, and Madeleine (Mitch) Moynihan. She is celebrated by her eleven great-grandchildren, Allison, Jacqueline, Cole, Addison, Kaitlyn, Anna, Sophia, Easton, Mason, John, and Avery. Other surviving family members include brother-in-law Cas (Lorraine) Tluchowski and sister-in-law Agnes Kostecki as well as many cherished nieces and nephews and dear friends whose lives she touched.
Gloria was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Andrew Garrison; her siblings: Joseph (Elizabeth) Ciancetta, Valerio (Pauline) Ciancetta, August (Mary) Ciancetta, and Victor (Dorothy) Ciancetta; her sister, Irene LeClear; and her infant brother, Carlo II.
Gloria was a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School class of 1947, a longtime member of St. Anthony Church and a present parishioner of Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church. In her youth she worked for Melody Record Shop, later Acme Paint, then after raising her children at Steubenville City Schools. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, baking, shopping, and swimming but her true passion was loving and caring for her family and friends. She lived by the golden rule.
Calling hours are Monday, March 3rd from 3-7 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd, Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Matthew Gossett on Tuesday, March 4th at 1 pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (built by Carlo Ciancetta and Sons), 280 Rosemont Ave, Steubenville. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
