He served the City of Steubenville for over 40 years starting as a patrolman in July of 1960 and retiring as Chief of Police in 2000. To this day he is still remembered affectionately as “THE CHIEF”.
Jerry was proud of his Catholic faith and his Irish heritage celebrating St. Patrick’s Day every year with his shillelagh in hand, and of course his signature green hair. He was a member of Triumph of the Cross (Holy Rosary) parish, a member of the American Legion Post 33, a life member of the Polish Athletic Club, The National Ancient Order of Hibernians, past president and retired member of the Fraternal Order of Police Fort Steuben Lodge 1, Moose Club Weirton West Virginia Lodge 688, and Elks of Myrtle Beach Chapter 1771.
