James P. Morrissey

James P. “Jim” Morrissey, 81, of Steubenville died Monday, June 17, 2025 at home. He was born August 8, 1943 in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Paul Morrissey and Frances (Sinclair) Ashmead.  He is also preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Antonio.

Jim retired from the Steubenville Police Department where he served as captain. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. James was also an active member of the American Legion Post 33.

Surviving are his wife Linda Morrissey (Achhammer), whom he was married to for 55 years; children, Jaye Lynn (Scott) Hockenberry, Ronald (Sally) Vecchione, and Patrick Morrissey; grandchildren, Ronny (Michelle), Melody, Criss, and Leigh Ann (Chaz); great-grandchildren, Logan, Bella, Joseph, Brian, Charly, and Lydia.

The family wanted to express thanks to Southern Care Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of James.

Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, July 12, from 10 am until time of services at 12 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville.
