Obituary

James “Jim” Joseph Della Penna, 66, of New Alexandria, OH passed away on August 7, 2022 while enjoying time with his family. He was born on September 27, 1955 in Steubenville, OH and worked at Trinity Medical Center (formerly St. John’s Hospital) throughout his career.

Jim was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He shared 41 years of marriage with his true love, Colleen, and was adored by his three children. His genuine kindness and love of life touched everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

Jim was active in the Buckeye Ruritan Club. He was a previous 4-H advisor and he enjoyed disc golfing with the Beatty Park Disc Golf Club, and swimming at the Millsop Community Center.

Jim is survived by his wife, Colleen (Fullen) Della Penna (New Alexandria, OH); his three children, Amanda Della Penna (Bethel Park, PA), Alicia Della Penna (Charleston, SC), and Zachary Della Penna (Brilliant, OH); his 3 sisters, Gail Della Penna (Steubenville, OH), Annette (Neal) Felder (Los Angeles, CA), and Susan Della Penna (Beverly Hills, CA); his sister-in-laws Brigid (Fullen) Kramer (Wintersville, OH) and Karen (Knicely) Della Penna (Mingo Jct. OH); his brother-in-law James Fullen (Steubenville, OH), as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Helen (Diomedi) Della Penna, his two brothers William “Bill” Della Penna Jr. and Michael Della Penna, and his in-laws James and Kathleen (Curfman) Fullen.

Per Jim’s wishes, no services are being held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Buckeye Ruritans c/o Don Roe-Treasurer, 177 County Rd. 19, Mingo Jct, OH 43938.
