Janet Elaine Hambelton, 66, of Steubenville, passed away on July 18, 2023 at The Wyngate Senior Living Community after a four-year battle with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born in Steubenville on December 6, 1956, she graduated from Steubenville High School and attended Kent State University. During her professional career she worked at Miners & Mechanics Bank, UniBank, Innovative Industries, St. John Medical Center, Sterling China Company, Aetna U.S. Healthcare, and most recently as payroll manager at rue 21 Inc.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, James and Inez Hambelton. Janet is survived by her partner Christine Smith, her sister Carolyn Hambelton Williams, and brother-in-law Randy Williams, of Holland, MI.
She is also survived by her nephew Ryan Williams (Carrie, Ben and Rhys) and niece Maureen Glass (Casey, Avery, Kylie and Colson) along with dear cousins and friends.
Janet was a fun-loving, beautiful person who enjoyed her vacation times, all things sport related, attending concerts and her pets.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 9 at 5:00 pm at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church. The celebration will begin at 5:30pm, officiated by Reverend Ryan Cockrill. We welcome everyone to join for the Celebration Dinner afterwards also at the church. As it being a celebration of her life, we would like everyone to dress casual, even sporting your favorite Pittsburgh or Ohio State team attire to honor Janet’s love of the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Buckeyes.
