John M. Lelless

John M. Lelless, 62, of Steubenville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

He was born on April 1, 1959 in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Norman Lelless and Bettie Henline. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Jack and Nora Hoover.

John was employed by the Steubenville Police Department for 25 years where he served as a police officer and detective until retirement. He was currently serving as an investigator for the Jefferson County Prosecutor's office. He was a graduate from Brooke High School class of 1977. He served his country in the US Air Force Reserves. He was a member of the Steubenville American Legion Post #33, the Polish Athletic Club, and the Jefferson Sportsman's club.

Surviving is his loving wife, Nancy Strachan Lelless; his children Matthew (Michelle) Lelless of Wellsburg, WV, Heather Lelless, Jami Anderson, and David (Enza) Anderson, all of Steubenville, OH; his sisters Rhonda (Brad) Levenhagen of Minnesota, Bonnie Mullikin and Jennifer (Brian) Kaiser both of Wisconsin.

John loved being Pappy to his grandchildren Aleyiah "Peanut" Anderson, Kaiden "Xie" Anderson, Kyle Marker, Ethan Marker, Gabe Marker, Emalee Lelless, and William "Porkchop" Anderson.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 pm until time of services at 6 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Pastor Jason Elliott will officiate.
