Joseph Leonard Obituary

Joseph Leonard, 87, was born on October 20,1933 in Mingo Junction, Ohio. Joe passed away on January 11th, surrounded by his family in Copley, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents Santi and Rosalie Muscaro Leonard and first wife Linda Lodge Leonard. He is survived by his wife Lina Maley Leonard and her daughter Kelly(Greg) Relyea, his daughters, Tracy(John) Kromalic, Lisa (Steve) Donofe and sister Mary Rose(Jack) Lorenc. He is also survived by grandchildren Emily, John Joseph(Samantha) ,Matthew Kromalic, Ava, Reena and Lola Donofe, Kai and Austin Relyea.

Joe attended St. Agnes grade school and Mingo High School before heading to The Ohio State University where he pridefully marched in the all brass Buckeye Band. After 5 quarters, the Korean War called him to serve his country in the Army. After 2 years, he returned home and finished his college education at The College of Steubenville. He started his sales career at Ohio Bell telephone company and then found his true calling selling cars in the automobile industry, in which he spent 50 years.

Joe enjoyed golfing, barbershop singing and all things football (a proud Buckeye and Steeler’s fan). He was a member of the American Legion Post 33 and enjoyed giving back to the community through both the Steubenville and East Liverpool Elks Club. One of his life long love affairs was with big band music, with which he swayed and sung along. Golf remained a part of his life until the end, enjoying his weekly golf outings with his East Liverpool League. Those who were fortunate enough to call him a friend or family would tell you his positive energy was contagious, his big heart, evident.

In lieu of flowers , Joe asks that contributions be directed to the East Liverpool Elks, 620 Broadway St, East Liverpool , Ohio 43920 for cerebral palsy. Friends are invited to a funeral liturgy with mass 11:00 am Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Mingo Jct., Fr. James Dunfee, celebrant. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
