Joe was a well-known and respected farmer (first dairy and then beef) and his dedication and contributions to his profession were numerous. He served on several agricultural related boards over the years, including Soil and Water conservation, Jefferson Landmark, Farm Bureau, Jefferson County Fair Board, Federal Land Bank and ASCS. Many have admired his picturesque farm in Smithfield, Ohio. Joe was also a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and before that, Our Lady Queen of Peace and Blessed Sacrament where he was involved in Knights of Columbus and the parish council. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren whom he dearly loved. He instilled in each of them the importance of family and cherished spending quality time with them. His catholic faith was very important to him, a trait he passed on to his six children. He was a humble man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a selfless man who would do anything for you, and touched many lives and made them better people.
Special thanks to his nephew and longtime doctor, Stephen Kuruc and to the staff at the Gables Care Center, especially his favorite nurse, Shelley, who always brightened his day with their bantering. Also, a special thank you to Doug Berry for the many years of helping dad on the farm.
