Julia Simons Coughlin, born July 19, 1936, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 12, 2026 at Holy Family Hospice in Parma, OH.
Julia was a woman of deep faith, artistic talent, and devoted love for the Church. Throughout her life, she used her gifts in the service of others—as an art teacher, a Hospital Volunteer Coordinator, and a Hospice Counselor and Coordinator. Whether through beauty, compassion, or quiet presence with those in need, Julia gave generously of herself and left a lasting impression on the many lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John J. Coughlin Jr.; her parents, Anthony and Jane Simons; and her brothers, Bill and Robert Simons.
Julia is survived by her children, Megan Koehler and her husband Mark, Patrick Coughlin and his wife Kathy, and Christopher Coughlin and his wife Lisa; and by her grandchildren, Blake, Allison, Jack, Chase, Benjamin, and Lucas; and her great-grandchildren Dawson and Deacon.
Julia will be remembered for her creativity, kindness, steadfast faith, and love for her family and the Church. Her life was marked by service, beauty, and devotion to Our Lord, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wintersville, Ohio, on Thursday, May 21, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors at the church beginning one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
