Julius Anthony Pizzoferrato Jr.

September 27, 1928 ~ June 17, 2019 (age 90)


Julius Anthony Pizzoferrato Jr., 90, of Steubenville died peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Valley Hospice.
He was born September 27, 1928 in Steubenville, the son of the late Anna M. (Gulan) and Julius Anthony Pizzoferrato Sr.   He was also preceded in death by his sister, Anna Mary Dintino; and brothers-in-law, Anthony "Tony" Dintino and Wm. Boyd Ulbrich.
Julius is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Irene Opet Pizzoferrato; his sister, Barbara J. Ulbrich; his five children,  Mark (Mary),  David (Donna), Eric (Michelle), Julianne Anderson (James), and  Jennifer;  his five grandchildren, Brian Anderson, Emily and Allison Pizzoferrato, Amy Pizzoferrato, Danielle Pizzoferrato;  great- granddaughter Teagan Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
Julius was a member of Triumph of the Cross Parish. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, stationed in Newfoundland during the Korean War.  He attended The Ohio State University where he became an accomplished civil engineer and surveyor.  Julius was the vice president of engineering for The James White Construction Co., Weirton, where he directed successful bids for many tri-state area road, sewer, water line, and land excavation projects which he also supervised.
Julius retired in 1991 and began enjoying many winters in Pompano Beach FL, and summers managing and improving the Rayland Marina  per contract with the Army Corp of Engineers.
Julius was the captain of several classic cabin cruiser boats which he restored and modernized.  He enjoyed navigating the Ohio River with family and friends.  He was a fun, loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather who will be remembered with love, and will be missed by his wife and family.
Visitation will be Wednesday 3-7 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. There will be a vigil service at 3 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral Liturgy with mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Thomas Nau, celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.    Memorial contributions can be made to the Valley Hospice Care North, or Triumph of the Cross Parish..
