STIMPERT, KATHRYN J. (KATIE), age 49 of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 11. When she passed, she was surrounded by her family.
Katie was born on May 13, 1975 in Steubenville, Ohio. She attended Catholic Central High School and graduated in 1993. She attended West Liberty University and received an Associate’s Degree in Business from Jefferson Technical College in Steubenville. In 1998, Katie married Richard Stimpert from Toronto, Ohio and had a son, Nicholas. Nicholas also attended Catholic Central High School and is now a manager at Kroger’s in Steubenville.
Katie worked in the insurance industry for most of her life, including many years working at Assure America in Steubenville. In 2014, her picture was on a billboard for Assure America on Sunset Boulevard.
Throughout her life, Katie was a passionate supporter of Catholic Central High School, attending almost every home football game. She was an avid supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a huge fan of Jimmy Buffett, who she saw in concert numerous times. She also had a great time singing her favorite karaoke songs at many family parties. And, Katie adored her dogs Bella and Bruno.
Katie was a loving wife, mother and sister and a friend to many in the community. She will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jefferson County Humane Society.
Katie was preceded in death by her father, Edward Punke, and her beloved uncle, Monsignor Robert Punke. She is survived by her mother Shirley Punke, her husband Richard Stimpert Jr, and their son Nicholas Stimpert, her sisters, Monica (Raymond) Leech, Annie (Tim) Copeland, and Mary (Eric) Balzano, all from Steubenville. Her nieces and nephews include Marina Leech, Patrick and Hannah Speiss (Greg Gjura), Eva, Grace, Lily, Jude, and Anthony Balzano.
Richard’s family includes his parents Virginia and Richard Stimpert of Toronto, Ohio, sisters Julia (Kent) Ault, Lisa (partner Eric Fisher) Stimpert Owen, brothers Edward (Amy) Stimpert, and Douglas Stimpert. His nieces and nephews include Caitlin and Dylan Ault, Mackenzie Owen, and Ethan and Andrew Stimpert.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 1-4 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Matt Gossett will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
