Lawson Cavanaugh Obituary

Joseph Lawson Cavanaugh, 86, of Richmond died Friday, December 31, 2021 at Trinity West. He was born June 8, 1935 in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Ken and Eva Lawson Cavanaugh. He is also preceded in death by one son Michael Cavanaugh.

Lawson was the former owner of Lawson Auto Parts. He enjoyed his sheep and cattle operations. He was a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School class of 1954 and General Motors Institute of Technology.

Surviving are two sons Joseph (Dona) and Daniel Cavanaugh both of Richmond; one daughter Cathleen Howle of Wintersville; four brothers Knute (Eileen) M.D. of Longmont, CO, John (Kathy) of Richmond, Charles “Corky” (Anne) of Bradenton, FL and George (Mary Kay) of Westminister, CO; five grandchildren Jessie, Lauren, Ben, Emily and Leah; three great grandchildren Evan, Aiden and Branlin.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2-6 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Chapel, Steubenville. Visitation will also be held Thursday at St. John Fisher Catholic Church from Noon until time of Mass at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the CCHS General Scholarship Fund, 320 West View, Steubenville, OH 43952.
