Libero Barca Obituary

Libero “Lib” Romano Mario Barca, Sr., 90, of Commercial Point, OH formerly of Steubenville, OH, died Monday, April 24, 2023, in Columbus, OH. He was born in Ciro Marina on April 27, 1932, Crotone, Italy. He is the son of the late Vincenzo and Rosena Barca. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Maria Barca, and two brothers, Salvatore, and Umberto. 

Lib was an avid sports fan and enjoyed any sport with a ball but was partial to soccer and football. He took pride in his early pro soccer career serving as the Team Captain with the Cosenza Calcio Italian Football (Soccer – Serie C) Club and later used his talents to coach junior leagues in Steubenville. Lib retired from Continental Can Company in Weirton, WV, and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Lib was a talented gardener and wine maker which he enjoyed sharing the bounties of with others. He was a former member of the Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church and Columbus Club of Steubenville.

Surviving is one daughter, Rose Ann (Joseph) Covelli of Marco Island, FL, two sons, Vince (Stacy) Barca of Mebane, NC, and Libero "Lib" (Sarah) Barca, Jr. of Commercial Point; two grandchildren, Gabriella and Alex; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be held for family and friends on Friday from 2:00 pm until time of services at 4:00 pm at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd.
