Llelia Buffone Obituary

Llelia Buffone, 77, of Steubenville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 at Valley Hospice. She was born in 1946 in Mingo Junction, to the late Brooks and Maude Fisher. She is also preceded in death by her son Leo Buffone and brothers Dude and Jim Fisher.

Llelia’s life was a devotion to her work, passions, family and friends. She graduated from Mingo High School in 1964 and dedicated 24 years as an executive secretary to Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Her professionalism and warmth left a mark on all who worked alongside her.

Llelia was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi (Chapter Torchbearer Omicron) for 60 years. She leaves behind her sorority sisters who were like her real sisters caring for one another through all those years. Her love to create art was evident through her involvement in the Steubenville Art Association where she was an avid painter. She also found joy in simple pleasures like baking. It was a specialty of hers and family and friends often enjoyed the fruits of her labor. She was also known for her love of playing cards, a pastime that brought her laughter and companionship. But most often you would find her shopping, always out to find the perfect decor for her home or perfect gift for that someone special. Traveling provided Llelia with inspiration and unforgettable memories, but it was the time spent with her beloved granddaughters that she treasured the most.

Llelia’s legacy is carried on by her husband of nearly 55 years Leo Buffone, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and adventure. She is also survived by her son, Luke Buffone, his wife Jill and granddaughters Sophia and Carmela who will continue to honor her memory in their lives.

Though Llelia’s physical presence will be profoundly missed, the lessons she imparted and the love she gave will live on through her friends and family.

The Buffone family would like to thank Valley Hospice for their loving care and support in her final days.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 am until time of services at 1 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Entombment will follow in Union Cemetery. Pastor Earlene McShan will officiate.
