Luke Reimer, 20, of Indian Shores, FL passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026 at St. Agnes Hall, Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH. Luke, along with the love of his life, Mary Mich, took their last breaths together when they passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning due to an automobile’s malfunction.
Born in Naperville, IL, Luke later lived with his father Ken and sister Emma in Indian Shores, FL. Luke was a junior at Franciscan University, majoring in Business. Luke graduated from Batavia High School and attended grade school at Sam Rotolo. During high school, Luke was very active in athletic programs, participating in football, Ultimate Frisbee, and his favorite sport, lacrosse. At Franciscan, Luke proudly played defense for the Franciscan University Barons Men’s Lacrosse team. He was also the Founder of the Ecuador Heritage Lacrosse Team and played “long pole” for that team and at Franciscan.
Luke enjoyed traveling with his father, spending time with his sister Emma, and playing online video games with friends, including Mary’s brothers, Henry and Peter. He was a devoted anime fan who loved attending conventions to collect rare gear and meet cast members from his favorite shows. Above all else, Luke loved Mary and cherished every moment they spent together, on campus, in Florida, and in Pennsylvania.
Luke was known among his peers for his thoughtful nature, strong moral compass, and commitment to his studies at Franciscan University. Family and friends will remember him for his integrity, compassion, and gentle sense of humor. He had a natural ability to connect with others, offering empathy and understanding even in difficult moments. His dedication to living a meaningful, faith-centered life was evident in all he did.
Luke was a man of God and a devout Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Madeline. Luke is survived by his grandparents, Ken and Patricia Reimer; his father Ken Reimer; and mother Beth Reimer; his sister, Emma; his brother, Zachary; and his nieces, Brooklyn and Madison. Luke and Mary often spoke of marriage and dreamed of having a very large family together. Mary’s parents, Chris and Christy Mich, lovingly considered Luke their son-in-law.
A private visitation for close family and friends will be held at the Finnegan Fieldhouse at Franciscan University of Steubenville on Monday, January 26, at 5:45 p.m., followed by a public visitation at 7:00 p.m. in the same location. A rosary prayer service will conclude the public visitation. A public Funeral Mass will be held at the Finnegan Fieldhouse on Tuesday, January 27, at 11:15 a.m. A private funeral reception for close family and friends will follow at Franciscan University’s Christ the Teacher Academic Hall and Conference Center. Interment will be private.
In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, chosen in honor of Mary, because, as Luke would have said, “Whatever Mary wants.”
