Madeline Iafrate Obituary

Madeline J. Iafrate, 88, of Follansbee, WV passed away on Sunday April 3, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 1st, 1933 in Steubenville, Ohio. The daughter of the late Neva Maria Tevere and Ruggerio Manfresca, both born in Calabria, Italy.  Madeline was proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Loreto “88” Iafrate of 65 years. She is also preceded by her brothers, Ramo and Joe Perrone,  and sisters Mickie Sellaroli, Annie Gombar and Gloria DiMeo.

She is survived by her five children, Cindy Margolis and her son Matthew of Los Angeles, CA, Gloria (Ivan) Bilancio and their daughter Leah of Los Angeles, CA, Loretta (Eddie) Thomas and their daughter Samantha of Follansbee, Mary (Dr.James) Leon and their children Nicolette and Luke of Powell, OH and Lou "Jody" (Gretchen) Iafrate and their children Joe, Michael, Ben and Grace of Mount Lebanon, PA. She is also survived by her two brothers Charles (Mary) Manfresca and Roger (Jeannie) Manfresca both of Steubenville.

Madeline was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish in Follansbee and a member of the Theta Chi Alpha Sorority. She retired from St. John’s Hospital business office after 20 years of service.

The family would like to acknowledge a special thank you for the excellent caretaking skills of Tracey, Lura, Stacey, Sue and Sherry. Special neighbors Wendy, Alfred and Kathy and Dave.

She’ll always be remembered as thoughtful and kind. Whether she was driving her siblings wherever they needed to go or cooking or baking for her friends and family. She shared her faith and her love with her family and entire community and will be greatly missed by all. A comment from a dear friend “she stood in the shadows so others could shine”.

Calling hours will be at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville on Wednesday from 3-7 pm. Funeral Liturgy with mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 am by Fr. Nau, Fr. Jude and Deacon Albert Iafrate.
