Madeline Ann Perhacs

Madeline Ann Perhacs, 71, of Steubenville, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Trinity West Hospital.  She was born on November 11, 1951, the daughter of John and Magdalene Ziarko Perhacs. Madeline is also preceded in death by her parents and many aunts and uncles.

Madeline was disabled from birth and was blessed with many family members, friends, and caregivers who enabled her to defy all odds and live a long life.  She had a memory like an elephant, was stubborn like a mule, and her sense of humor never wavered, no matter the circumstance.  She rarely complained about her life challenges and was an example to all of us.

She is survived by her legal guardian and cousin Michael E. (Butch) Ziarko (Jacque), who assumed responsibility for her care following the death of her mother.  Additional cousins include Ann Huzey, John Michael Huzey, Joe Ziarko, Judy Perhacs Doyle, and Cindy Perhacs Pirraglia.

Heartfelt thanks to all those who made Madeline’s journey better, especially the nurses, administrators, and staff at Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities - Shaffer Plaza, Steve Smith and the other case managers from MRDD, and long-time caregiver, Connie Jones.

Calling hours will be held Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 11:00 am until time of Mass at Noon, Fr. Matthew Gossett will celebrate. Internment will immediately follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
